About Orange County Employment Services and Career Centers

Orange County Employment Services: Orange County Employment Services is a division of the Orange County Department of Social Services (DSS) that provides services to support and connect job seekers and employers. The division is headed by Robert M. Gilmore, Human Services Supervisor and Shanika Williams, Employment Services Social Work Supervisor.

Career Centers: Orange County Employment Services manages two employment centers: the state's NCWorks Career Center of Orange County in Chapel Hill, which is managed by Caraina Garris, and the county's own Orange Works Employment and Training Center in Hillsborough, which is managed by Lena Angelichio-Miller. Both employment centers: 1) help individuals secure employment, training, and/or education leading to employment with the goal of self-support, and 2) help employers access workforce resources to improve their talent pipeline.

At both centers, job seekers can use complimentary computers, get job search support, and access education and training resources as well as other supportive services and benefits such as child care. Employers can access the suite of federal and state-fund programs and resources to support their talent recruitment, training, and retention initiatives, including customized hiring events and access to On-the-Job Training (OJT) funds and other Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) resources.

Contact Information: Learn more about Orange County Employment Services and direct general inquiries to (919) 245-2821.
