Background on the Policy Forum: The General Assembly recently adjourned its 2018 "short" session on June 29th (after hammering out adjustments to the second year of the two-year budget as well as approving new transportation bonds and increased state employee and teacher salaries, and placing six constitutional amendments on the Nov 6th ballot) only to be called back in for a special session on July 24th to address wording on those amendments. Legislators will only have a brief time at home, as they are scheduled to reconvene immediately after the November elections.
Background on the Policy Series: This is the fourth of six policy forums this year and is part of the Chamber's 2018 Policy Series. The forums occur every-other-month on the third Wednesday morning of that month, and feature influential speakers addressing timely topics related to the economy, economic development, public policy, and local elections. The 2018 Policy Series is sponsored by Cardinal Innovations HealthcareDurham Tech, and Silverspot Cinema
