Description
At Therapy Smarts, we witness every single day how life-changing therapy services can be for children and families. For many children with autism, ABA therapy is not optional — it is medically necessary care that helps children communicate, regulate emotions, reduce unsafe behaviors, build relationships, develop independence, and safely participate at home, school, daycare, and in the community.
For many families, therapy is the reason their child can:

• Safely attend school or daycare
• Sleep through the night
• Reduce aggressive or self-injurious behaviors
• Learn to communicate wants and needs

HB696 introduces major changes related to ABA therapy oversight, authorizations, telehealth, and provider requirements that are raising serious concerns among families and healthcare providers across North Carolina.
