Saturday, April 6, 2024 (11:00 AM - 4:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

The UNC Science Expo is a signature event of the annual North Carolina Science Festival and one of the largest celebrations of science in the state. More than 100 booths staffed by UNC-Chapel Hill faculty, students, and community volunteers fill the quads surrounding Morehead Planetarium. From hands-on activities and games to science demonstrations and behind-the-scenes lab tours, the UNC Science Expo makes learning about science fun and engaging for people of all ages. This year, Morehead Planetarium will also celebrate its 75th anniversary by bringing even more fun and excitement to the Expo, including food trucks, stage performances, prizes, and more. There will be a ribbon cutting taking place at 1:30 p.m. to add to the celebration.

About Morehead Planetarium and Science Center:

Morehead Planetarium—now Morehead Planetarium and Science Center—was dedicated in 1949 as a powerful tool for the education of North Carolinians. It was the first planetarium in the world built on a college campus and only the eighth planetarium built in the United States. True to its founding mission, Morehead continues to bring together the unique resources of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to engage the public for an enhanced understanding of science. Over the past 75 years, millions of visitors have benefitted from its science programs.
