CBA Leadership Council Welcomes 4 New Members and Launches New DEI Committee
Two Important Updates from the CBA Leadership Council
Prepared by Katie Loovis, CBA staff support
The Carrboro Business Alliance (CBA) Leadership Council is a group of more than a dozen CBA members who volunteer monthly to ensure the CBA delivers on its three-part mission to connect, represent, and promote members and our community. The following are two timely updates from your CBA Leadership Council, who convened today (March 15, 2022) for their monthly meeting.
First, since the start of the new year, the CBA Leadership Council has welcomed four new members who are committed to helping Carrboro thrive:
- Wendy Smith, The ArtsCenter
- Erik Valera, El Centro Hispano
- Nora Spencer, Hope Renovations
- Marlin Fludd, Atma Hotel Group (Hampton Inn & Suites)
Second, the CBA Leadership Council has two committees: the Policy Committee and Marketing Committees, and at the most recent meeting (on 3/15/2022), the Leadership Council approved the launch of a third committee: the DEI Committee (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion). New CBA Leadership Council Member Nora Spencer of Hope Renovations agreed to chair the new DEI committee and has outlined four intersecting focus areas for the CBA Leadership Council to foster awareness, growth, and progress in matters of equity. These four DEI domains are:
- Ourselves (individual growth)
- Our enterprises (business growth)
- Our membership (network growth)
- Our community (ecosystem growth)
Stay tuned for updates and opportunities to engage with the CBA Leadership Council and all three committees in the coming months and let me know if you'd like to be nominated to serve!
