Chapel Hill, NC - The Chamber for a Greater Chapel Hill-Carrboro congratulates Lee Roberts on his appointment as the next Chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

“We are thrilled to congratulate Lee Roberts on his appointment to this vital leadership role at our state’s flagship public research university,” said Dan Lehman, Chair of the Board of Directors of The Chamber for a Greater Chapel Hill-Carrboro and Vice President of Operations Support & Professional Services for UNC Health. “During his time as Interim Chancellor, Roberts has demonstrated his deep commitment to local engagement, and we look forward to expanding our partnership with the Chancellor and the University to ensure that our community continues to thrive as a premier place to live, work, and learn.”

Lee Roberts currently serves as Interim Chancellor, a role he assumed following the departure of Kevin Guskiewicz this January. He brings a distinguished background in both public service and finance to his new role as Chancellor.

Roberts served as State Budget Director from 2014 to 2016 and was previously a member of the UNC Board of Governors, where he chaired the budget committee. Roberts has also served on the State Board of Community Colleges and the North Carolina Banking Commission. He is co-founder of SharpVue Capital, a North Carolina-based investment firm, and for the past five years has taught public budgeting at Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy.

Chamber CEO Aaron Nelson expanded on the Chamber’s excitement to work with Roberts, saying, “His diverse experience and deep understanding of North Carolina’s educational and economic landscape make him exceptionally well-suited to lead UNC-Chapel Hill at this time. The Chamber’s Board of Directors, professional staff, and more than 600 member enterprises look forward to a continued strong partnership with Chancellor Roberts and the University to advance our local community and economic success."
