Summer Careers Academy News Releases

Summer Careers Academy seeks 20 young adults and 15 employers to round out the second cohort of the “Building Our Future” skilled trades registered youth apprenticeship program.

This summary captures the development of the Summer Careers Academy model (April 2021) through the launch of the inaugural "Building Our Future" program (August 2022) to make the progress public and help other collectives replicate the model and/or program.

100% of Pre-Apprentices successfully completed the 8-week skilled trades career training program and 80% earned the NC Registered Youth Apprenticeship Certificate!

The inaugural cohort is made up of 15 diverse students and nearly a dozen small, mid-size, and large employers from the public and private sectors.
