There’s a lot going on in Carrboro, so this is a quick update on our collective state of play, some upcoming events, and some action requests.

TONIGHT: The Aldermen will continue their public hearing on the Lloyd Family Farm Conditional Use Permit request for Phase I Shops along 700 & 706 Old Fayetteville Road. The CBA Leadership Council expressed unanimous support.
EVENTS: The Chamber and CBA encourage you to attend/engage with these upcoming celebrations in Carrboro
- Ribbon Cutting for Shelton Station: Join us tomorrow, Oct 23 from 4-6pm to celebrate the opening of this modern, loft-style community in the heart of downtown Carrboro. Complimentary food from Mediterranean Deli. Register
- Ribbon Cutting for Craftboro Brewing: Join us this Friday, Oct 25 at 4pm in South Green to welcome this new neighborhood brewery and bottle shop to the community and the CBA. Register
- Business After Hours at Shelton Station presented by First Citizens Bank & Trust: Join us Thursday, Nov 14 from 5:30-7:30pm for this special happy hour in Carrboro that will feature an update from the CBA Founding Champions, Investors, and Leadership Council members. Register
- Carrboro Film Festival: Now in its 14th year, the Carrboro Film Festival features “Southern films in one of the South’s funkiest small towns.” Join us at the ArtsCenter Nov 15-17. Learn more
- Small Business Saturday: Save the date: Sat., Nov 30, for a day dedicated to local shopping and dining. The CBA will promote local businesses through the #WeBuyLocal campaign and we’ll kick off with free Small Business Saturday gift bags from American Express filled with local swag and coupons at the Carrboro Farmers’ Market from 9-10am. Be a part of it.
ELECTIONS: Election Day is two weeks away and early voting is underway. Do you know who is on your ballot? Learn about each candidate, watch their (un)forum videos, and review their survey responses. Visit the CBA election page.
PARKING: The CBA advocates for no net loss of publicly available parking in downtown Carrboro. Part of the solution for long-term, comprehensive parking solutions could include a thoughtfully designed system for paid parking and enforcement, which the town is currently exploring. Learn more.

#WEBUYLOCAL: In a spirit of celebration and to encourage more local shopping and dining, the CBA is coordinating three #WeBuyLocal campaigns in 2019 featuring deals and discounts:
- Welcome back UNC students
- Fall festivals
- Carrboro Cheer (Share your deal now)

GOVERNANCE: The mission of the Carrboro Business Alliance is to: 1) Connect members with information, potential customers, and other enterprises, 2) Represent the local business interests with local government and policy makers, and 3) Promote members and the Carrboro community.
