Community Call for Action: Help Sort and Select the Big Bold Ideas
More than 450 Big Bold Ideas Submitted
Chapel Hill, NC: The Big Bold Ideas Steering Committee is pleased to announce that more than 450 big ideas for a better community were submitted and now it is time for the community to: 1) crowd-sort the ideas and 2) register as a Community Convention Delegate to help select the three Big Bold Ideas.
“We are impressed with the quantity and quality of big ideas that have been submitted and call on the entire community to help us select the best ideas for our future,” said Creighton Blackwell, Vice President for Corporate Affairs, Coastal Credit Union, and Chair, Big Bold Ideas Steering Committee.
Sort the Ideas
From now through Thursday, October 31, 2019, the community is invited to help prioritize the 450+ ideas through a simple crowd-sorting platform called AllOurIdeas.com. This “wiki survey” platform uses a democratic, open, and efficient process to allow the most popular ideas to bubble towards the top. Community members may vote as often as they would like, stop at any point, and view real-time results. The final crowd-sorted list of prioritized ideas will not determine our community’s three Big Bold Ideas, but rather be one of many inputs to inform the in-person discussion at the Community Convention on Thursday, November 7, 2019. Crowd-sort the ideas now.
Select the Ideas
On Thursday, November 7, 2019, hundreds of delegates will participate in the Community Convention to discuss and select three Big Bold Ideas. The conference, hosted by the Steering Committee, will be held in the Friends and Family Hall at St. Thomas More in Chapel Hill from 1-5pm with expert facilitation from Zemo Trevathan of The Aligned Team. Invited delegates include all Steering Committee members plus five nominees each, all elected officials in Orange County, and as many self-nominated community members as possible given room capacity. Register to be a delegate and help select the three Big Bold Ideas now.
“Greater Chapel Hill-Carrboro has realized some remarkable improvements in community well-being over the last decade. Now it’s time for some big ideas and bold action so everyone in our community can thrive in the future,” said Blackwell.
