Whether you're in business\, nonprofits\, academia\, or government\, Women on Top is the perfect time and place to enjoy the company of other like-minded professional women.\nThe non-profit partner for January's Women on Top is Reel Grrls. Reel Grrls was founded in 2001 as a project of the 911 Media Arts Center and YMCA of Greater Seattle. Reel Grrls is the premier year-round media-training program for girls. At Reel Grrls\, girls ages 9 - 21 learn production skills through hands-on workshops and classes taught by female media professionals and educators. Since the organization's inception\, over 1000 students have participated in Reel Grrls programs and Reel Grrls media have been honored in more than 90 film festivals globally.\n\nTeaching girls media literacy is a cornerstone of the Reel Grrls program. Through mainstream media\, girls get a skewed and limited perception of their place in society\, their body image\, their career possibilities as well as possible leadership roles for women.
